This video was developed as the final communication product for the RE-SEEties program, which BEE has been involved with throughout its life cycle. RE-SEEties aimed to promote more efficient urban resource management, through pilot projects in several South-East European cities. The goal of this final communication step was to reach out to as many municipalities as possible, who would be interested in the program’s results and tools. We chose to develop this short, and visually appealing video as an alternative to traditional project materials that tend to be unused at the end of a project (e.g. a brochure or report) – in the hope that the final results can be accessed by wider audiences. The video notably helped to spread the project message, through its likeable and shareable format.
The video itself follows the visual style developed by BEE for the RE-SEEties program, using black and white city imagery, contrasted with simple and playful graphic illustrations and typography, which symbolize the positive future possibilities. We kept the text and messaging as short and simple as possible, while ensuring the communication of key lessons. Based on the feedback to the video, the target audience appreciated our approach, and we were able to successfully communicate a relatively dry topic (energy efficient, resource management) in a unique and playful manner – all the while gaining the interest of key stakeholders. (The project was completed on behalf of the RE-SEEties program, with our main partner Energiaklub.)
